Iowa Girls Basketball Coach of the Year Coach Maske 's kids, Josh
and Niki, have played in a combined 7 basketball state tournament
games, winning the title once and finishing 2nd once. Coach Maske
resigned his duties at Newell-Fonda last spring to devote his time
and energies to The Chute camps and The Chute. Maske is quick to
point out that the success over the years has been the result of
some remarkable athletes who worked hard and loved the game. His
last team was a perfect example of this. They averaged 80 points
per game and finished with a 20-5 record. They scored over 100 points
against 4 different teams. That team, like most of the others led
the state in 3 point shooting. In fact, that team had 4 different
girls make 6 or more 3's in one game. It was a young team that not
only had just 2 seniors and 2 juniors...but a team that throughout
the year started 4 Freshman. Coach Maske has always believed the
game of basketball should be a combination of hard work and fun.
He has now taken this philopsohy across the midwest doing what he
has loved doing for 21 years... Coaching Basketball! |
